Rum & Sugar and Bitter Chocolate Torte

The Rum & Sugar – Museum of London Docklands is a fab setting that gives you something a bit different for your most memorable day. I love its riverside location – it allows couples to capture amazing photographs with the stunning Canary Wharf skyline as a backdrop.

Local residents Laura and Phillip really love the area, and they wanted to make sure their wedding location was close to home. Visiting the Museum of London Docklands, the couple immediately fell for the character of the building and the possibilities presented by the onsite bar and restaurant Rum & Sugar. Period-style photographs in the 1840s themed Sailortown gallery were the icing on the cake!

When they arrived from the ceremony on amazing vintage double-decker London buses, Laura, Phillip and all the guests were met with a prosecco reception, plus some very tasty canapés of smoked salmon, lemon aioli on classic blinis and Welsh rarebit with truckle cheddar and Lea & Perrins sauce.

Guests then moved into the Muscovado Hall for the wedding banquet and speeches, where a scrumptious three-course meal awaited. The ever-brilliant Ampersand had prepared a bespoke bitter chocolate torte with Madagascan vanilla ice cream especially for the bride, who had told them during the menu tasting that this was a family favourite. Other dishes included roast sirloin of Angus ativan buy online canada beef with Yorkshire pudding and red wine jus and poached asparagus with soft-boiled quails’ eggs and Hollandaise sauce.

The couple loved the venue’s history, and paid tribute with a little bit of rum theming – tables were named after different types of rums, and there were table favours to match!

The night ended in Rum & Sugar, the Museum’s super-atmospheric bar and restaurant, where the couple and their guests danced the night away, enjoyed the music of their friend’s band and snacked on a late evening buffet.

Laura and Phillip felt that: “for what was an incredible venue, we got very good value for money – we used areas that weren’t necessarily the normal place to hold events, so the price was less than the usual, but the places we chose were just perfect!”

“Thank you all at Museum of London Docklands and Rum & Sugar for giving us a wedding day that we both look back on and can’t help but smile, as it was the best day of our lives.”

We’re so happy that they loved their wedding at the Museum of London Docklands. The Museum can give your wedding that special touch of something different, and Laura and Phillip certainly got the most out of it!
